About Our Company

Turf Built for the Pacific Northwest

Oregon Artificial Turf installs synthetic grass across the Portland metro, lawns, pet turf and dog runs, putting greens, playground surfacing, and commercial turf. We're a local team that has learned this climate the hard way, and we build accordingly.

Nearly every failed turf lawn we get called out to inspect failed underneath, not on top. So we handle every phase in-house, sod removal, excavation, drainage design, and a compacted open-graded base, before a single roll of turf comes off the truck. That's the part that decides whether a lawn still looks right in ten years.

How It Works

From First Call to Finished Lawn

A simple, no-pressure process. We keep it clear and on schedule from your first call to the day you walk out onto the finished turf, which, unlike sod, is the same day we pack up.

01

Free Consultation

We meet you at your property to measure the area, check how it drains, and talk through turf products, infill, and budget, no pressure, no obligation.

02

Design & Estimate

You get a clear plan and a detailed written estimate covering square footage, turf specification, base depth, drainage, and timeline so you know exactly what you're buying.

03

Excavation & Base

Our crews handle every phase in-house, sod removal and haul-away, excavation, drainage, and a compacted crushed-rock base engineered for Oregon's rainfall.

04

Install & Finish

We roll, seam, and secure the turf, brush in infill, detail the edges, and walk the finished lawn with you, plus simple care guidance to keep it looking new.

Built to Last

The Part You Never See Decides Everything

Ripples, low spots that hold water, seams that open, edges that lift. None of these are turf defects. Every one of them is a base that was built too shallow, compacted too little, or never drained at all.

Portland gives you no margin for that. Forty inches of rain a year falling on clay that barely percolates will find any shortcut taken underground. We excavate to depth, build with open-graded rock chosen to move water rather than hold it, compact in lifts, and pipe the water somewhere it can actually go.

Commercial & HOA

Turf That Comes Off the Maintenance Budget

Property managers, HOA boards, and business owners across the Portland area work with us on common areas, courtyards, entries and medians, rooftop decks, pet-relief areas, and athletic surfaces, specified heavy enough to survive real traffic instead of matting down in the walking lines by year two.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

What areas do you serve?
We serve Portland and the greater metro area (including Beaverton, Tigard, Lake Oswego, West Linn, Tualatin, Happy Valley, Oregon City, Sherwood, Wilsonville, Milwaukie, Hillsboro, Gresham, Aloha, and Newberg) across Multnomah, Washington, and Clackamas counties. If you're near Portland, reach out and we'll let you know.
Does artificial turf drain in Portland's rain?
It drains better than the lawn it replaces, when it's built right. Our turf uses a permeable backing over three to four inches of compacted open-graded crushed rock, so water moves straight through the surface and into the base instead of sitting on top. On lots with heavy clay or a high water table we add French drains or a dedicated outlet. Drainage is the single most important part of a turf install in this climate, and it's where we spend the most planning time.
Are you licensed, bonded, and insured?
Yes. Oregon Artificial Turf is a licensed, bonded, and insured contractor operating throughout the Portland, Oregon metro area on both residential and commercial projects. We carry general liability insurance and provide certificates of insurance for commercial clients on request.
Do you offer free estimates and financing?
Every project starts with a free, no-obligation on-site consultation where we measure the space, assess drainage, and show you turf samples, followed by a detailed written estimate before anything is scheduled. We also offer flexible financing options, which is worth asking about. Turf is a one-time cost that replaces years of watering, mowing, and reseeding, and spreading it out makes that trade easier to act on.
How long does artificial turf last?
A quality turf installed on a properly built base typically lasts fifteen to twenty years in our climate. We install commercial-grade turf manufactured in Georgia, backed by the manufacturer's warranty against UV degradation and fading, and we back our own installation with a 5-year workmanship warranty. Portland treats turf gently compared with hotter, sunnier markets, our moderate summers mean far less UV load on the fibers than the Southwest.
Will moss or weeds grow on artificial turf?
Nothing grows up through a properly installed turf system. We install a weed barrier and the compacted base gives roots nowhere to take hold. What can happen in the Pacific Northwest is moss or algae forming on top of organic debris that's been left to sit, especially in deep shade. Blowing leaves off a few times each fall prevents it almost entirely, and we offer power-brooming and cleaning if a lawn does get neglected.
